This book is great for all ages. Amazing illustrations made from polymer clay, the detail will blow you away.

EASY BAKE OVEN RECALLED

July 21, 2007

If you have an Easy Bake Oven in your home, please read the attached link.  This recall has been a shock to many, as was the Thomas the Tank Engine recall earlier this summer.

In February 2007, Hasbro announced a repair program on the Easy Bake Oven , but since then there has been 249 injuries reported.

The reason for the recall is that children can get their hands or fingers trapped in the front opening of the oven. This toy is very dangerous, it can cause burns or even something more severe, as in the case of the 5 year old girl who required a partial finger amputation. To read more about this recall, click the following link http://toys.about.com/.

OVERBOARD, BY SARAH WEEKS – GREAT TODDLER BOOK!

July 19, 2007

Overboard, By Sarah Weeks

Meredith Westcott, Library Assistant and Children’s Programmer recommends picking up the book, “Overboard” by Sarah Weeks if you have a toddler.

Meredith says that it is “a brightly illustrated book for toddlers about a cute baby bunny who likes tossing everything from food to toys overboard from his highchair and crib. Anyone with a toddler will relate and children like to hear it read again and again”.

NIGHT PIRATES BY PETER HARRIS, A GREAT PICTURE BOOK FOR PRESCHOOLERS

July 19, 2007

Night Pirates, By Peter Harris

When I asked Meredith Westcott, Library Assistant and Children’s Programmer for the Kingston Frontenac Public Library, the book she would recommend to preschool children?  Her response was,  “Night Pirates” by Peter Harris.

She said, “this book is a great book to read to children preschool up to grade 2. Great for both boys and girls. This picture book is about a band of rough tough little girl pirates who (with the help of one sweet little boy, Tom) go searching for treasure and end up meeting some rascally adult pirates. Will those little girl pirates get their treasure? Fun and cute without being Pirates of the Carribean scary”.

So, remember this book when you visit your local Public Library next.

Thank you Meredith!
